Coaches! Your Attitude Matters!
The coach's attitude is perhaps the single most important thing brought to practice. Rarely do you hear players comment on how organized a coach is or how knowledgeable. Instead, they talk about how "psyched" or "into it" the coach is. A few basic rules are helpful:
- Keep things simple and clear; avoid jargon
- Be positive and use positive language
- Exude enthusiasm
- Be organized
- Remember -- you are the adult, keep things in perspective
- Let them play
- Remember that the reason they play is to have fun.
