"Hurry I need to plan my soccer practice"

Andrew Hemingway - Wednesday, July 30, 2008

This is a comment often heard by us here at CSC. Many parents are so busy with their professional lifes that they just do not have time to read, study, and plan their kid's soccer practices. On top of that many Have never even played soccer before, let alone coach it! This is exactly why we are here...This site exists to teach the volunteer coach how to coach their teams. We provide you all this is the most time efficient manner we can. So that you can log on the night before get a great practice that you understand( all drills in video) and can effectively teach to your players. All the time looking like you know exactly what you are doing. Don't be the "jerk" parent that just shows up and let's the kids do anything and never teaches them. Use our site, and earn the respect of your players and their parents, who knows...You might even have a little fun while your at it!

Youth Soccer Coaching Tips

Andrew Hemingway - Saturday, July 26, 2008

There are certain thing that every coach needs to know. Whether you have been coaching for twenty years, or this will be your first time, it is imperative to know a few certain things! What are those things? Well allow me for the next few minutes to give you a Soccer Coaching Tip.

Always keep the game in perspective! I know that you hear this all the time, but it is so easy for the game to take over your emotions as a coach.I just finished watching the movie 21. It is the story of an MIT student that was exceptionally gifted at "counting cards". The teacher in this story(which is true by the way) tell him that he can never let his emotions make his decisions for him. Of course the student one night loses focus, and allows his emotions to make bad, very bad decisions. This same story is told over and over again as coaches all over, lose their heads, by letting emotions make their decisions. This always ends badly for the coach. Sometimes with greater consequences than others. The lesson this week is to keep the game of soccer in perspective. Is it important? Absolutely.

Is it the end of the world if they lose? No! Keep things in perspective and save yourselves a lot of trouble!

And earn yourself a lot of respect from your players!

Stay tuned in the next couple of weeks we will have more tips to great soccer coaching.

Are you ready for this soccer season?

Andrew Hemingway - Wednesday, July 23, 2008

The summer is quickly coming to a close, and the soccer season will soon be here! I love summer, only because it leads into our soccer season. There is nothing like a first practice. All the kids and coaches are brimming with excitement, and the coaches are ready to tackle the season ahead. Hopefully coaches have prepared for the season, or they are in for a big disappointment. Not only for themselves, but for their players, and the player's parents. So this begs the question: What should a coach do to be prepared? There are several things to do, and our coach will be writing a special article about this in the next few days, so stay tuned! But on the topic of being prepared...

We have just completed taping, editing, and uploading over 50 drills to the site. The library is now brimming with content. We are very close if not the largest online video library of youth soccer drills. We will have another 30 or so drills coming in the next few weeks, and we have more taping scheduled in August. Now is the time to step up to the plate and prepare yourself for this coming season, and there is no better way than joining our site and having access to all these great drills!

Coaching kids soccer

Andrew Hemingway - Wednesday, June 25, 2008

"Coaching"- just the word probably brings flash backs of many coaches we may have had...good/bad...either way the word coach brings something to mind. For many it's a paralyzing fear, for others it's a way they interact with their children. We here at Complete Soccer Coach believe that coaching kids soccer can be one of the most rewarding experiences of a persons life.

Having the opportunity to coach childrens soccer should be a way for you to introduce to your team a fantastic sport. Along with teaching sportsmanship, team work, and all the other great character building attributes.

Here are three things that you can do to lower your anxiety, and be the best coach you can be.

  • 1. Be prepared for practice- This is the most important thing you can do. Have a practice planned out, and stick to it. Arrive early, and have drills laid out before practice even starts. Use tools like Complete Soccer Coach to help prepare for your practice.
  • 2. Remember that they are just kids- Do not let your players run the practice. There is a reason that you are the coach. DO not be afraid to take charge, and make sure that your players work on your schedule and not theirs!
  • 3. Remember that they are kids- What a great opportunity that you have to work with kids. If your like me you there are moments you wonder what you were thinking when you signed up, and then there are those moments when you are repaid by something a player does, or you observe. Coaching kids soccer can be the most rewarding thing a person can do.

Go out there have fun, be prepared, and remember that they are just kids!
